Getting started

What does Nullside need to run?

A Mac with macOS 14.2 or later, on Apple Silicon or Intel, and an internet connection for transcription and answers.

Which permissions does it ask for?

Microphone, for your side of the call. Screen & System Audio Recording, for the other side of the call and for screenshots of your screen.

I opened it. Where is it?

Nullside has no Dock icon and doesn't appear in ⌘Tab. Press ⌘\ to show or hide it. You can also turn on a menu bar icon.

Do I need my own API key?

No. The AI is included, in the free try too.

On a call

Can the people on my call see Nullside?

No. Its windows are hidden from screen sharing, recordings and screenshots using macOS's own window protection, so they see your normal screen.

Does it answer on its own?

If you want it to. Turn on auto-answer from the bar and Nullside answers when the other person asks you a question. Otherwise press ⌃⌘↵ whenever you want an answer.

Can it use my own documents?

Yes, with Pro, in beta. Attach PDF, Word, RTF or text files to a mode, and every answer in that mode draws on them and cites the page.

Is it OK to transcribe a call?

Recording and transcription laws differ from place to place. Make sure the people on the call are OK with it: getting consent is your responsibility.

Plans and data

What's in the free try?

About 3 minutes of a call or 3 answers, whichever comes first, with no card. It's one per Mac, and documents come with Pro.

How do I upgrade or change my plan?

From inside the app. It opens Stripe's checkout or your subscription page in the browser. Stripe handles tax and receipts.

How much can I use it?

Pro comes with an AI allowance that renews every month on your billing day, and Settings in the app shows how much you've used. If you run out, a $8 top-up adds credit that carries over.

Where are my transcripts kept?

On your Mac, along with your chats, modes, notes and documents. Our server keeps your email, your plan and usage totals, not what was said. Privacy in plain words
